The American School of Johannesburg (AISJ) selects KHIPU to upgrade its network using HPE Aruba’s latest ‘smart-rate’ technology – a first in South Africa within tertiary education

Pretoria, South Africa, 26 July 2018 – The American International School, a technological leader within tertiary education, has awarded KHIPU Networks and Aruba, An HPE Company, with the task of enabling better education for staff and students through a resilient and robust wired and wireless network.

“The number of devices connecting to our network is continually growing to utilize the various educational tools we have, KHIPU’s solution based upon Aruba’s latest technology, will enable us to simplify our network and scale for future growth. Key factors for this project was futureproofing for the next five years and getting the best return on our investment. We would welcome our approach to be adopted by other education intuitions within Africa” says IT Manager Andre Van Wyk.

By using Aruba’s new wireless access points (3-series) across the campus, staff and students alike are now able to seamlessly connect both school issued and personal devices, accessing critical system securely that are integral to their educational goals and needs. Having a complete robust wireless and wired network with a single architecture, using Aruba’s latest technology including their new ‘smart rate’ multi-gigabit ethernet switches, now allows the school to expand its embracement and usage of technology on campus as more devices such as IoT increase over the coming years.

“By utilising the latest technology for wireless and wired networking, we are now able to remove the traffic bottlenecks and complexity’s that we were facing and offer our staff and students a fast, reliable and open but secure teaching and learning environment for any device, anywhere on campus” according to Chris Bronkhorst, IT Coordinator.

“We work with many institutions across Africa and this project proves that it is possible to achieve the best networking environment to improve both learning and teaching, that is not only cost effective but demonstrates real return on investment. We are very pleased to have been selected for this exciting project with AISJ”. Gareth Trollip, Country Manager, Africa
