Alcatel-Lucent Secure Enterprise Wireless
During our experience of designing and deploying next generation enterprise wireless networks across a range of vertical markets including Healthcare, Corporate, Education, Government and Automotive organisations, we have addressed a number of requirements to provide flexibility, highly secure and easily managed wireless networking. Customer requirements have included the following:-
- Supporting secure access requirements for Staff, Visitors, Contractors, Students
- A wide range of wireless controllers and access points including support for 802.11a/b/g/n
- Wireless requirements for protected environments using advanced meshing technologies
- Role Base Access; Controlling 'who' has access to 'what' resources

- The ability to prohibit unauthorised device / user access
- The ability to secure the wireless environment from hacking, rogue access points and interference.
- The provision and support of voice over wireless
- The provision of real-time location services (RTLS) and radio frequency identification (RFID)
- Policy enforcement - Managing safe and preventing unsafe *i.e. vulnerable (no anti virus) devices from accessing the network.
It is well known that traditional wireless solutions (i.e. standalone access points) struggle to meet the requirements detailed above and are generally unreliable, prone to interference, hacking and performance limitations. Our Next Generation Wireless offering is based on the leading WLAN vendor Alcatel-Lucent*, providing non-complex centralised management of Wireless Coverage, Access Points, Devices and Users, without comprising security. Whilst other vendors have designed their systems as wireless systems, our solution is unique as it has been developed from the perspective of providing a secure mobility system, targeted at converged networks (Voice and data). This translates to a solution that is far more secure than other wireless systems, with security being an integral part of the solution, not as an add-on.
Our WLAN technology has been independently tested as being able to cope with multiple traffic streams better than any other WLAN system available, meaning that the Alcatel system is able to handle voice (a difficult protocol to handle) with ease.
