KHIPU launch ‘KHIPU-NAC’ a Cost Effective Approach to Network Access Control and Identity Management
As a result of our Government and Hospital customers requiring non-complex and non-intrusive methods of securing their networks, we have launched the ‘KHIPU-NAC’ approach to provide the following features in a cost effective manner;
Security and Control – Block unknown / unauthorised devices from the network “Locking down your network”
If a person unplugs a device such as a computer, laptop, printer etc from your network then plugs in an unauthorised one (e.g. their own laptop, a NAT device - wireless / wired router etc), our system immediately blocks it, switching the device into a “dead-end” network (VLAN), whilst alerting IT services and providing a full audit log of what occurred including location (switch port / wireless access point), device (IP address, Mac address) and time.
Distributed Management
The solution has the ability to enable different departments to manage their own devices rather than IT services being responsible for all devices on the network. For example; allow designated members of a department to grant network access to new authorised devices (i.e. a new printer, Laptop etc), whilst providing a full audit log of what has taken place.
Full Visual Audit / Inventory of Network across all sites
The solution provides full visibility of every single device that is connected to your wired and wireless multi-site networks including device location, User, IP address, Mac Address, type of device – printer, server, switch, PC (MS, Mac, Linux), VoIP Phone, CCTV etc, all available in reports if required. It can even identify and alert if a device is moved, or if a stolen one is seen back on the network!
Provide the ability to allow guests network access without compromising Network Security
For a user who has their own laptop that is not owned by your organisation (e.g. 3rd party contractor, visitor etc), the system can allow them to access particular areas of the network securely based on who they are and/or device type (using its GCS feature set). The solution will force the device to be registered and authenticated, then be scanned for compliance (based on the Acceptable Use Policy) checking for Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, unauthorised or required applications before being granted network access. It certain environments, the solution can simply force the user / device to be registered / authenticated then be switched to an Internet only area.
The solution is based upon the award winning Bradford Networks 'Campus Manager'and ‘NAC Director', which has been installed into over 500 customer environments. Key benefits of the solution include;
- It is Network Independent (wired or wireless) therefore does not rely on any particular switch or wireless vendor make or model
