Warwickshire County Council provide Wireless Services for Council members and the Public
Khipu Networks, an advanced systems integrator, and Warwickshire County Council complete a pilot wireless networking deployment within Warwickshire, providing wireless LAN services to council members and the general public.
Following a tender process Khipu Networks were awarded the contract and selected as a preferred supplier. To meet the council’s requirements in terms of security, flexibility and management, Khipu Networks and Warwickshire County Council’ ICT department implemented a solution based upon Alcatel-Lucent’s extensive range of Wireless LAN products.
The Alcatel-Lucent wireless LAN solution will provide benefits to Warwickshire County Council and the public including:
- Secure wireless network to support mobile and flexible working for staff
- Scalable solution that can be deployed throughout Warwickshire County Council facilities
- Single solution that can provide access for both staff and the public
- More flexible access to public services by implementing wireless access in building such as libraries
Using the Alcatel-Lucent 6000 series Access Controllers, Warwickshire County Council will be piloting the wireless service across key areas in the County prior to a phased roll out in line with business requirements.
