ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards. International Standards give state of the art specifications for products, services and good practice, helping to make industry more efficient and effective. Developed through global consensus, they help to break down barriers to international trade.
Our current ISO Certification includes:
ISO9001:2008 (Quality Assurance Standard)
As one of the UK’s leading security-focused systems integrators, Khipu Networks has a commercial interest to ensure that our systems and processes provide the best products, service and support to our customers.
This Quality Assurance Standard has a range of benefits:
- Improved product, process and service quality
- Increased customer satisfaction levels
- Improved productivity, less waste
These benefits are achieved by focusing on customer satisfaction, process management and measurement, continual improvement and greater senior management involvement.
ISO/IEC27001:2013 (Information Security Management System Standard)
The aim of the System Security Information Management Standard is to ensure that adequate controls addressing confidentiality, integrity and availability of information are in place to safeguard the information of ‘interested parties’. This includes customers, employees, trading partners and the needs of society in general.
Unprotected systems are vulnerable to computer-assisted fraud, sabotage and viruses. Breaches in information security can allow vital information to be accessed, stolen, corrupted or lost. System Security Information Management also ensures that we manage the integrity of our data systems, ensuring regular backups, resilience and business recovery plans.
We want our customers to know that we have the appropriate controls and procedures in place to avoid such incidents.
ISO14001:2004(Environmental Management System Standard)
The Directors at Khipu Networks are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of all operations across the company, while at the same time heightening awareness of environmental issues with all of our staff and supply chain.
Adopting ISO14001 has brought immediate improvements to our environmental performance as well as providing a continual process to reduce our carbon footprint on a daily basis.
Our customers can also be assured that Khipu both recognises and complies with all relevant environmental laws and regulations.
OHSA18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Standard)
Health and Safety is a mandatory requirement for any business, we undertook OHSA 18001 certification to ensure that we operate to the best possible practices and procedures internally, externally at our customer sites as well as ensuring any sub-contractors we use are also operating safely.
Our customers can be assured that Khipu operates to the highest internationally recognised practices.
The ISO story began in 1946 when delegates from 25 countries met at the Institute of Civil Engineers in London and decided to create a new international organization ‘to facilitate the international coordination and unification of industrial standards’. In February 1947 the new organisation, ISO, officially began operations.
Since then the ISO have published over 19 500 International Standards covering almost all aspects of technology and manufacturing.
Today ISO have members from 164 countries and 3 368 technical bodies to take care of standard development. More than 150 people work full time for ISO’s Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.
Because ‘International Organization for Standardization’ would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), The founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, the short form of our name is always ISO
